Prairie Dogs, Coyotes, and Noodles

Got up early this morning and took the dogs to Hampden Heights Park. It has part of Cherry Creek Trail which you can take all the way into Denver! There are plenty of bikers that ride along the concrete trail way.

The best part about Hampden Heights Park is that it is only one block away from our new apartment! The street has a sidewalk that goes through a neighborhood and it dead ends into the park =)

Here are some pictures that I took along the way:

Apparently there are coyotes in the area!!

This isn't a very good picture, but those are prairie dogs...
Will try to get a better shot!

Bridge crossing Cherry Creek at a waterfall =)

Ducks swimming in the creek...

After I got back from the park, JC and I went to eat at a restaurant called Noodles. It was delicious!! It's a pasta restaurant... it has different pasta dishes from America, the Mediterranean, and Asia. I got Pad Thai with shrimp and JC got parmesan crusted chicken and pesto sauce =) Super yummy! And for all the sushi fans out there I found a made to order, all you can eat sushi restaurant!! Only $14 for lunch or $24 for dinner!!

Also checked out the library...didn't get any pictures of that. We are learning our way around pretty well =) Living in the city is nice since everything you need is right there... but I miss the quiet of the country.

Until next time! Much love =)

1500 Miles Later...

Hey Guys!!

We finally made it to Denver, got in around 3pm Mountain Time =) It was a long haul, especially since we were driving separate! I gotta give a shout out to our dogs: they were super troopers!! I never once heard "are we there yet" lol

I think Kansas was my favorite state to drive through. It may have something to do with the snow, or the fact that it was the only completely sunny day of the trip =) The sky seemed to go on forever! I also loved the rolling hills.

My favorite part of the drive were these fields of wind mills in western Kansas. They are the prettiest man-made things I think I have ever seen! Here's a picture that I found on the internet =)

JC took these while we were on the road =)

These evergreen trees lined parts of the highway =)

A train blowing steam off in the distance =)

Farmhouse in Kansas!

Grain silos off the highway

One more night in a hotel until our apartment is ready tomorrow.

We are officially home!

Winter Storms and Creepy Highways

We woke up at 6:45 am to a huge clap of thunder, looked at the weather and decided, since there was a 80% chance of rain for the whole trip, that we would leave the next day instead. Woke up again at 10:30 AM to no rain, just overcast skies. Looked at the radar again and saw that there was a 0% chance of rain, interesting how weather can change that quickly. We grabbed all our stuff and loaded up the car and headed out of town.

Alabama was much prettier than I imagined! Several lakes, creeks, and rivers. Also more mountain views than I expected. My favorite names of the small towns were Brilliant and Guin (apparently pronounced Gu-win).

After passing thru Birmingham, we were directed to take a few surface streets to a different highway. It was supposed to be I-22, I figured there would be plenty of signs for us to find it with. I turn at the right mileage point (wasn't using my GPS) and the only sign on the ramp or before the turn simply said "West." This was the kind of highway littered with Pentecostal churches and farm houses; picturesque, but who knows what's beneath the surface.

After several miles I noticed that the highway was called Al-78,  not I-22. As I begin freaking out, I keep telling myself that it was the only option. It was about 40 miles before the signs called that road I-22 =)

It started raining and got dark earlier than we expected so we decided to stay in Memphis instead of Little Rock, which is another 120 miles away.

We shall begin the second leg of this trip bright and early in the morning =)

No pictures today, because we didn't stop anywhere worth remembering ;)

Panther Creek Adventure

Had a great day hiking with our Pack at Panther Creek Falls in Habersham, GA! It was 7 miles round trip with a lot of rocky trails =) Many of which I had to pick up Gizmo and either put him on a rock or take him off!

Beautiful sunburst shot of the falls...

Myself and our dogs: Izzy and Gizmo (little one)

We were amazed when Caeser jumped up on this rock all on his own!!

New hiking shoes, a going away gift from my BFF Ashley! Kept stepping in mud with the right one, so it's way dirtier than the left =)

Cool rock wall... we climbed to the top of it and walked around the creek...

Izzy loved swimming in the current =)

Kelsey thought it was funny that I took a pic of her shooting video =D

Managed to get a shot with all four dogs looking at the camera!

Gizmo!!

Gizmo and Tater were cold and tired on the way home =) super cute!

The best days usually end with exhaustion, this one was not an exception!! Can't wait for Kelsey to visit in Colorado so we can explore there too!!
