Flowers, Redrum, and Chipmunks!!

Hey Everyone! Sorry it's been so long! Been extra busy with work and the volunteer service that I started a couple weeks ago. I guess I miss working with the elderly because I found a volunteer driver service where I can drive around seniors and be reimbursed for gas mileage! It has been extremely rewarding so far, and I can't wait to help more of these sweet people =)

A few weekends ago JC and I drove up to Ft. Collins and then down through Loveland and over to Estes Park. I already put these pics up on Facebook, so I'm sorry if you've already seen them!

Once we arrived in Ft. Collins we weren't too sure what we were going to do... we mostly just wanted to see what the city was like. After a few minutes of driving around we came across this huge garden at Colorado State University!

These are both from the Dahlia family... they were all very beautiful!

These are variations of Columbines. The purple and white ones are on the state license plate that was created to recognize the victims and survivors of the shooting at Columbine High School. Very beautiful flower to represent such tragic events...

These are some of my favorites =)

After leaving Ft. Collins we drove south through Loveland (which was a cute little town) and west to Estes Park. On the way to Estes we ran across this place and had to stop! Anyone who lives in Cumming/Buford, GA will appreciate this... they claim to be the "Best Dam Store" but I believe I know of one that may rival it...

This one did have one thing going for it, they have a tower (you can see the railing to the left of the "Dam Store" sign) that you can climb and look out over the dam and river =)

JC has been wanting to visit Estes since we moved here because it is the home of The Stanley Hotel, the location and inspiration for Stephen King's The Shining! Not only was it a gorgeous hotel with a great view, but it had a great history with lots of artifacts from the movie!

This is the view from the front porch!

This is it...the room that inspired the famous book and movie The Shining!

We rode a gondola up to the top of some mountain (not sure the name) and this is the view we had on the way of The Stanley Hotel.

So my new friend Miranda was raving about how you could take the gondola up to the top of this mountain and feed the chipmunks!! It was probably one of the coolest experiences I have ever had!

He grabbed the peanut and then pushed off with his little tiny hand =))))))

Right before we left we asked a nice lady to take our picture and it turns out she is a professional photographer!! I think this is the best one of us we've taken out here yet =)
