Hey Guys! It's been a couple weeks since we went camping, but I'm still behind on my posting.. will catch up this week! So I did some research and found a campsite called Rainbow Lakes that was off a "native-paved" road outside of Boulder. I called ahead and asked what "native-paved" meant and the lady told me it was a rough dirt road and that people drive it in sedans and don't have problems. So I decided that we could do it... boy was I wrong!
We drove through the mountains until we saw the sign for the campground and turned onto an extremely bumpy, rocky road... I was too nervous about the car to think about taking a picture, but it looked like this:
You can only imagine 5 miles of that in a Honda Civic, some parts being much worse too! Needless to say, after about a mile and a half we decided that it wasn't worth breaking my car over and turned around. We drove a few more miles up the highway and stopped at a restaurant and asked about another campground. They directed us to Camp Dick, located in Peaceful Valley. We quickly set up camp.....
And Izzy immediately found her stick for the day =)
Had this awesome view from camp!
JC always builds a good fire =)
This is by far the biggest beetle I have ever seen! It's antennae were longer than it's body and I swear it had two sets of wings!
There was a nice hiking trail next to the campground in the Indian Peaks Wilderness.... This is Coney Creek, but it looked more like a river....way too fast for Izzy to swim in!
This is a Columbine that JC found while we were hiking! Remember them from Sea of Flowers?

Wild Gerber Daisies and Sunflowers!!
These are my favorite trees! It's kind of hard to see in the picture but the leaves are tiny and they shimmer in the wind! It looks like the trees are saying 'hello' =)
Gizmo got pretty comfortable on the tent cover... this was his first camping trip and I think he loved it!
And Miss Izzy always loves camping... every minute of it =)
We had a pretty good first camping trip in Colorado =) The weather was gorgeous and it got down to 45 at night, so it definitely wasn't too hot! It's interesting living in a place that doesn't have hot summers.... July is the hottest month of the year in Colorado, my whole life August as been the hottest month! I'm totally lovin it out here =)
Next weekend JC is taking me on another camping trip!! We are going to rent a Jeep so that we can go off roading to a campsite that you can only get to in a 4 wheel drive car! We want to check out a rock formation that's called "The Castles" and also go to a ghost town named Carson. I've been to ghost towns before, but this one isn't the commercialized type, it's the kind where literally no one lives or works. It is only accessible from a dirt road =) I will definitely post about that soon after we go, stay tuned!
