Hey Guys! Happy Labor Day! Labor Day is one of my favorite holidays! It signifies the beginning of Fall, which includes most of my favorite things: pumpkin everything, football, apples (cider, pie, turnovers...), Halloween, leaves changing colors, plus the beginning of the countdown to the holidays!
Since I had the day off and we are going camping tomorrow without the dogs, I decided to take them on a short hike right outside of Denver. I found Lair o' the Bear Park on this website: http://www.dayhikesneardenver.com/dog-friendly-hikes-denver/ This website has several great hikes for dogs that are about an hour or less away from Denver! They stated that they selected these hikes based on feedback from their Lab and I have to say Izzy and Gizmo agreed about this one!
There were so many people that I couldn't really take them off the leash much, so Izzy about ripped my arm off!
We weren't there very long before Izzy went swimming!
Gizmo, contrary to popular belief, actually does like hiking... and when he gets hot he finds a nice muddy spot on the edge of the creek to lay down. At least by the time we get to the car his fur is all dry!
There's a storm rolling in... I could hear the thunder from pretty far away. Apparently lightning strikes are somewhat common up here, I guess because we are so high up in the mountains? So after I saw these clouds, we started heading in the other direction towards the car.
On the way back I saw a sign for Red Rocks Amphitheater and Park, so I decided to pull in to check it out =) I don't think the dogs would be allowed in the amphitheater, so I decided to just drive around the park and pull over to take pictures.
These sweet dogs waiting patiently for me to get back in the car =)
Izzy always stands with her paws up on the middle console so she is my favorite buddy to ride with =)
This is a cute town called Morrison, home of Red Rocks. I think we are gonna go up here in a couple of weeks, without the dogs, and have lunch and go to the amphitheater.
Sweet little Gizmo is exhausted after a couple miles of hiking!
